On Saturday, February 8, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania disconnected their electricity systems from the power grid shared with Russia and Belarus, and on Sunday, they successfully synchronized their systems with the continental European network via Poland. Leaders of the three Baltic states, together with the presidents of Poland and the European Commission, attended a ceremony in Vilnius to celebrate this transition as a crucial step towards greater energy system resilience and closer integration within the European Union and away from energy dependence on Russia.
